The design decision

A human handoff succeeds when the caller reaches an appropriate person and does not need to repeat essential information unnecessarily. Merely initiating a transfer is not enough. Define what context may be passed, how staff know why the assistant stopped and what happens when nobody accepts the transfer.

Workflow and information contract

Identify the handoff trigger, explain it plainly and ask permission to share relevant context where appropriate. Prepare a short factual summary with confirmed details and unresolved questions. Select the approved destination, observe whether it answers and keep a fallback message or callback option. Mark the case transferred only when the defined acceptance condition occurs.

Acceptance test and expected result

Ask for a human at the start of the call, after a failed action and during an ambiguous request. All three should follow the documented rule. Simulate an unanswered transfer and check that the caller is offered a genuine alternative. Inspect the staff summary for invented facts or unnecessary sensitive information.

Limits and human handoff

Do not make callers argue with the assistant to reach a person. Handoff summaries should identify uncertainty rather than conceal it. Staffing availability and callback expectations must reflect the business operation, not an optimistic default in the script.

Prepare a VoiceAvo implementation review

Use this guide to prepare a specific VoiceAvo implementation review, not as a promise that every described action is enabled in every account. Confirm the selected telephony provider, supported integration, staff responsibilities and failure path before activation. Begin with synthetic records and approved test destinations. Keep a dated record of expected and actual results, and approve production use only after the business owner has reviewed the evidence. For this workflow, bring the following information: handoff reason, confirmed summary, destination, acceptance event, fallback choice and staff ownership.

Use a repeatable acceptance checklist

Open the workflow acceptance kit and review the implementation checklist. These are scenarios to run, not claimed product test results.
