Voice Call Concurrency Planner
Estimate average simultaneous calls from arrival rate and handling time, then explore an explicitly chosen capacity multiplier.

What this tool measures
Monthly minutes do not tell you how many calls arrive together. This planning worksheet starts from an hourly arrival rate and average duration, then applies a multiplier you select. It is a transparent workload approximation, not a queueing forecast or a guarantee of an answer-time target.
Enter your planning inputs
Numeric defaults are fictional examples, not prices or measured performance. All calculations happen in your browser; inputs are not transmitted to the server.
Formula
Average simultaneous calls = hourly call arrivals × average minutes per call ÷ 60. Scenario capacity = round up (average simultaneous calls × your chosen multiplier).
Worked example
At 120 calls an hour and three minutes per call, the average offered workload is six simultaneous calls. Applying a chosen 1.5 multiplier gives nine in that scenario. Nine is not a measured peak requirement and does not establish a waiting-time service level.
Limits and assumptions
Bursty arrivals, uneven durations, callbacks, transfer legs, provider limits and outages can change capacity needs. This tool does not implement Erlang C, model abandonment or estimate queue wait. A multiplier is your assumption, not a confidence bound or an industry-standard recommendation.
How to review the result
Inspect observed arrival counts in shorter intervals and real call durations. Check carrier and application concurrency limits independently. Run authorised load tests with synthetic destinations and a staff fallback before setting production limits.
Exported JSON includes the inputs and derived outputs, making it possible for another reviewer to reproduce the arithmetic. Keep any underlying call evidence in your own approved system. A model result is not evidence that a live deployment has passed its acceptance tests.
